Classroom for 2011 - 2012 School Year

Our Reading Center!
Our Back Wall!
The Front of the Room!
Please ignore the writing on the board, my former students left me sweet messages.
Our Word Wall...waiting for the words :)

Our Mon"Star" Communication Board!
Back Reading Wall!
So I have been hard at work getting the classroom ready for the 2011 - 2012 School Year. I forgot my camera the day that I got the majority of the classroom done. But I did take some pictures after the first day of working in the room. There are just have a few minor things to do before the students arrive on Monday, the 15th of August. The theme this year is Cooking Up Success. I am excited about the theme but when I went into School Craft I fell in love with these adorable monsters. So the outside this year will be cooking and the inside will be monsters. For those of you that know me well that is totally out of character. I am usually one that carries a theme throughout...but not this year.
I hope that my students enjoy the room as much as I do. I will try to remember to take some more pictures before the first day so that if students or parents look at the blog they will know what to expect. I look forward to this school year and meeting my new students. I hope that they are excited too! Well enjoy the pictures and I will try to get more of them soon.

Meet Mrs. Zardoust

Dear Parents and Students,

My name is Carolyn Zardoust and I’m a student teacher at Athens State University. I’m married and I have four children ranging in ages from 17 to 9 years old. Before going to school to be an elementary school teacher I home schooled them for four years. It was a spark under my seat that never went out, and I loved it just as much as the children did. I just started my second rotation at Harvest Elementary School. Since the beginning of school I have been working with the 1st grade and now I am with Mrs. Vandiver and her class. I will be working with them and teaching at least part of the day until Thanksgiving break. There is such a tremendous difference between 1st graders and 4th graders, but they all have one thing in common: They get so excited when they are eager to learn something. My favorite aspect of teaching is that moment when the “light” gets clicked on and a student goes “I know this!”, because suddenly they understand that new concept after wanting to for so long.
If you have any questions or wish to contact me, my email is czardous@my.athens.edu and I am open to any concerns you may have. If there is anything I can do to assist your child in better understanding the subject matter, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Blessings,

Carolyn Zardoust

Jacques Reeves

Yesterday we had our AR kickoff in the gym. We had the pleasure of being entertained by the author Jacques Reeves. She is an amazing story teller, and kept everyone in the gym on their toes. She also is married to Robert Reeves from News Channel 19. It was a pleasure getting to listen to her and meet her. Mrs. Reeves is very knowledgable and I know that we all look forward to listening to her again. Here are some pictures of her telling her story to the students and a picture of her by herself.
